ECHO CARDIOGRAPHY
MEET WITH DR STUART MCLELLAN

YOU WILL BE SCREENED AND GIVEN INFORMATION FOR THE
COURSE ON THE TUES 5TH FEB at the Western Gen Hospital

Dr McLellan is a Consultant Critical Care at the Western  General Hospital in Edinburgh
He is looking for some senior male students to assist with a course that he is running on Tues 5th Feb at the Hospital (You need to attend the initial screening on the Wed 16th Jan first though)
The workshop is using “Echocardiography / ultrasound scan” of the heart
The volunteers will be required to remove their T-shirt and lie down on a couch/ mat in order to be screened. This will be painless.
All volunteers will receive a token of appreciation (iTunes/ Amazon vouchers)
You can opt for the morning sessions on Tues 5th Feb (Must be at the hospital for 9.30 am)
i.e. (1 hr each approx) sessions 1 & 2 (10am then  11.15am start)  
Or the afternoon sessions 3 & 4 …1. 30pm – or 2.45 or you can attend all day
The last session will finish at 4.15
All pupils will have an EE2 parental Consent to complete

PLEASE NOTE THIS WILL BE DURING PRELIM LEAVE
THE EXAMS ON THAT DAY ARE PHYSICS H /INT 2 AND MUSIC PERFORMANCE ALL DAY (you can’t miss your prelims OK)

S6 PUPILS INVOLVED IN CAN DANCE FOR SA

Rehearsals will take place in B3 on Fridays after school.  All pupils involved must attend rehearsals as there are only a few weeks left before we leave for South Africa. This item will be performed at Diversity in March.

S6 PUPILS INVOLVED IN singing Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika (South African National Anthem)

Rehearsals will take place in B1 after school on Wednesdays.  This item will also be performed at Diversity in March.

Can tutors please read out to S4, 5 & 6 pupils.

There are a number of past papers and study aids available free of charge. Anyone interested should come to the S6 Study Room (ground floor Spylaw) at lunch Monday 21st   & Tuesday 22nd if they are interested. Any aids not taken will be donated to the library.

SPRING FLING is next!

All orchestras and bands are resuming rehearsals this week (week beginning 7th January) in the music department for the next music concert: Spring Fling.

PUPILS should ensure to attend all the rehearsals as there will only be 5-6 rehearsals before this concert due to the February holiday break.

Rehearsals will be as follows:

Wind Band: Mondays after school - HALL

Senior Jazz Ensemble - Mondays at lunch time - B1

Transitional String Orchestra - Tuesdays after school - B1

Senior String Orchestra - Tuesdays after school - HALL

Clarsach ensemble - Tuesdays/Fridays after school - B17

Pipe Band/Chanter Group - Tuesday's after school - B1

Guitar Senior Ensemble (Playing rock and pop tunes) - Thursdays after school - B3
Senior Vocal Group: Thursdays after school in B2

Pupils receiving instrumental tuition in school should be attending one or more of these groups, and all newcomers are very welcome.

ALL Pupils: Eton Choral Courses 2013
There is an opportunity for pupils to be involved in Singing Courses in Eton during the summer holidays.  If any pupils are interested in this opportunity, come up to the music department to get an application form.

ALL Pupils: Usher Hall Programmes
There are programmes left from the Usher Hall Christmas Concert.  If there are any pupils who would like a programme as a souvenir, please pick one up at reception.  The programme has a list of pupils performing in the concert and the backstage crew.


STARS IN THEIR EYES 2013

This year’s show will take place on Thursday 24th January and we are looking for any singing/entertainment acts who would like to perform at the show.  This is open to all year groups and all STAFF for solo or group performances!!
Tickets for the event will go on sale the week beginning 21st January and tickets are £4.  All money raised goes to the South Africa Street Kid’s Project
If you have any queries or would like to sign up to perform, can you please see Miss Falconer in the PE Dept.

Diphtheria/tetanus/polio immunisation session

Wednesday 6th February              Location: rooms S1 & S2

The immunisation forms, for issue to pupils during Monday tutor time, will be in staff pigeon holes. Timetable to follow.
Any unclaimed forms must be returned to me asap (leave in welfare drawer, main office tray or welfare office)

Pupils must return completed forms directly to the Welfare office by Thursday 24th January to be included in the session.


LONDON DANCE TRIP

3rd instalment for the trip is now due.
