Action Against Bullying

Over the next few months we will see the launch of our updated Anti-Bullying policy in the school. We hope to hold several events, initiatives, and pupil focus groups to help build a stronger culture of positive respect for each other.

Our first opportunity is to provide an opportunity for 2 pupils from each year group (S1-S5) to receive a full day’s training in becoming an Anti-Bullying Ambassador as part of the UK-recognised ‘Diana Award’.
This will take place on 26th March and Register teachers will provide you with further information. This is an ideal opportunity if you would like to network with other young people, exchange practical ideas, and creatively explore and understand the issue of bullying through interactive sessions. If you are interested, please inform Mr Warden or leave him a note in the Maxwell letterbox outside the Pupil Support office by Monday 3rd February.

The Spark’ (school magazine) is holding a creative competition celebrating the famous poem ‘To a Louse’ by Robert Burns.
Entrants must provide a creative response to the poem. It might be a poem, a photograph, a painting, a model or even a short story. Be imaginative!
All pupils are invited to participate. There will be a special haggis prize for the winner.
Deadline for entries is Friday 31st January. Please speak to Ms Murray (w7) or the English department for more details.

Pipe Band Drumming:  The JGHS pipe band is actively looking for new drummers.  No previous experience necessary (although experienced drummers are also very welcome).  Please see Miss Grant in W10 (Lauderdale) for further info.
