FREE FOOTBALL SESSIONS
Active Schools and Street
Leagues are delivering free football sessions at Saughton Astro every Monday
4-6pm for S3-S6. The Street League coaches will be on hand to deliver matches
and training but also to chat to the kids about a positive destination if
they are thinking of leaving school this summer.
The idea is to get kids along just now and create a relationship with the coaches and then possibly bring in Street League guys to Guidance classes / PE sessions to offer out their programme to kids who are interested. Children are responsible for making their own way to and from the sessions and should bring along an EE2 (available from Mr. Carstairs in the PE department) to each session. |

Fairtrade Fortnight
We are now in the final week of Fairtrade Fortnight 2016.
This year the theme is breakfast. It may be shocking to know that there are
times of the year when people who grow the food we eat for breakfast cannot
feed their own families.
As Martin Luther King Jnr quoted:
Before you finish eating your breakfast this
morning you've depended on half the world.
Maybe this morning you have enjoyed bananas from Colombia, coffee from Kenya, cocoa from Cote D’Ivoire or tea from India.
By buying Fairtrade products for breakfast
you can help ensure the farmers and workers that put the food on our table
can feed their own families.
The Fairtrade café is open from 8.00am until
8.35am Monday-Friday. Come for breakfast this week and have a Fairtrade hot
drink, a banana or some home baking.
Help farmers feed their families by buying a
Fairtrade product for your breakfast.
SIT DOWN FOR BREAKFAST AND STAND UP FOR FARMERS
Pupil Voice Meeting
Friday 11th period 2

WORD OF THE WEEK- 2K1
Word: Incommodious (adjective)
Definition: Inconvenient or
uncomfortable
Synonyms: awkward, annoying, unsuitable,
discomforting
Context sentence: The parents’ evening proved very
incommodious to many students.
Submitted by: 2K1
A very apt word from 2K1 this week. See if you can use
this word in your school work over the course of this week. It would also be
great to see a few more classes participating in Word of the Week and
exploring the wonderful world of words and literacy.
Please email me your words by next Friday.
