S5
STEM CLUB

Any S5 pupils interested in leading or supporting STEM club over the next academic year (for S1-S2 pupils) should come for a meeting on Wednesday 19th April in lab 2, science at lunch time (bring your lunch!) with Miss McKenna.
Anyone considering applying to University to do a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), or anyone from any subject looking to expand their leadership experience (good for personal statement!) should definitely consider it. Do some research on what STEM club is before you come to the meeting!

South Africa Trip 2018
Letters have been emailed home for all S5 pupils – if you need a paper copy of the letter please collect from Mrs Sinclair in the Classroom Assistants Office

Food Bank donations
There has been a recent screening of I, Daniel Blake for the local community at James Gillespie’s.  This film is a realistic depiction of the struggles of living on benefits and the hardship some families are facing. We asked the audience to bring donations for our local food bank and would like to give the pupils and staff an opportunity to help with this collection.  If you have anything to donate please bring this in next week.  There is a box for donations in the reception.  Any non-perishable items will be greatly received.  There is a list below of items that are needed the most by the food bank.

Library Use during Lunchtime
The librarians would like to ensure that all students are aware of expectations when using the library at lunchtime.
We want the library to have a nice, welcoming, calm atmosphere and so we just use one entrance so people are not walking through.
We have 60 seats altogether, so once the library is full we will operate a one person out/one person in system.  There will be a flip chart at the entrance so when the library is full you will see a FULL sign and just need to wait.
We expect people to be reading, working, drawing, etc.  Please do not come in to eat and if you just want to have a chat you will need to use the other seating areas around the school.

Thank you
Ms Brown & Ms Wallace
