Rotary International Young Musician of the Year Competition – Local Heats
This annual competition is open to school pupils of all ages.  Our local heat is hosted at Merchiston Castle School in late autumn. The successful instrumentalist and vocalist progress on to the District Finals at Heriot-Watt University.  The performances are invariably of a high standard and provide young musicians with a valuable opportunity to play before an audience.

If you are interested in taking part in this event, please see Miss Shields in the music department as soon as possible for more information. The deadline set for applications is Friday 9th November 2017.

Boyd Anderson Ski Race
If you are a keen skier and would like the opportunity to represent the school in the above event, then please see Mr Newall in the PE Dept before Friday 10th November.

CHOIR REHEARSALS
All choirs will start rehearsing for this year’s Christmas Concert at the Usher Hall on Tuesday 19 December as follows:

S1 choir:  starts Wednesday 20 September at 1.15pm in the theatre
S2/3 choir: starts Tuesday 19 September at 1.15pm in the theatre
Senior choir (S4-6): starts Wednesday 20 September at 3.45pm in the theatre

These are weekly rehearsal times and we expect all who join choirs to attend each week.
Any pupil who has missed the first rehearsal is welcome to come along and register at the next rehearsal the following week.

Please note that choirs are open to all young people with no auditions, and no previous experience required – just an enjoyment of singing!

We hope to see many of our young people involved in these, and participating in the concert!

Mrs Deirdre O’Brien and Miss Tassie McMorran
