S1	Gaelic Learners Club The Gaelic learners club is open to all pupils s1 – s3 whatever their knowledge of Gaelic, so whether you want to build on the language you learned in primary or would like to learn more about one of Scotland’s native languages then come along and join the class which runs every Monday lunch time in room 2.24.
S2	!!URGENT - Ski excursion 2016 - space available!!  Due to a medical injury, a place has suddenly come available on the French Alps ski excursion between 2nd- 9Th January 2016.  As this is very short notice, payment and organisation will need to be completed before the festive break.  If you would like details of this excursion, contact Mr Digance in the Design and Technology department ASAP.  If more applications are received then names will be drawn out of hat. All years	Blog Club This week’s meeting of Blog Club is cancelled, we will meet again in the New Year. Merry Christmas to all and have a lovely holiday when it comes! Word of the week from 3M2 Word: mulligatawny (noun) Definition: East Indian highly spiced soup Synonyms: soup, curry, broth, pepper-water Sentence: Cameron enjoys a bowl of hot mulligatawny soup on Christmas day every year. A particularly tasty submission for word of the week this week! Your Christmas related challenge is to see if you can come up with an equally appropriate word for the last two days of term… Send words to me for Friday. Thanks, M Roskilly Fairtrade Cafe Just to let you know it's Christmas week at the Fairtrade cafe- come and warm up with a filter coffee, hot chocolate or tea and treat yourself to a mince pie, lebkuchen or some home baking. Remember all our drinks are Fairtrade and cost 50p for filter coffee & hot chocolate and 30p for tea. We are behind the forum in the cyber cafe and open from 8am until 8.35am. Thank you. The Eco/Fairtrade group. BENE Christmas Card Competition - design and/or create a Christmas Card. Entry S1 – S5, Donation (50p recommended) to enter, all donations go to aid Syrian Refugee crisis through Save the Children. Hand all entries to your registration or PSE teacher by Friday 18 December or put it in the ‘Christmas Card Competition’ box - make sure to add your name and registration class! Prizes for the winner and runner up!! THE JGHS SCHOOL SHOP - will be open from Wednesday 2 December in the Cyber Cafe on the ground floor.  The shop will be open every break selling loom bands, pencils, rubbers, pens, sharpeners and Santa hats. Volleyball Club - Volleyball club takes place on Tuesdays after school, at Meadowbank. The PE bus will leave at 4pm from Lauderdale street and returns to the school at 6pm. The club is available to all pupils in S1-S6 Art project – ‘Lifecycle of Stuff’ The Art Dept. need your empty juice cans and plastic bottles for a recycling Art Project called the ‘Lifecycle of Stuff’. Please help by putting your empty juice cans or plastic bottles into the white labelled bins in the Forum. Thank you. Athletics Club Athletics club starts on Monday after school, at Meadowbank. The bus will leave at 4pm from Lauderdale street and returns at 6pm. Anyone interested or who would like more information please see Dr Oudney (Science). S5-6 only- If any S5 or S6 would be interested in helping with athletics club on a Monday night, please speak to Dr Oudney in Science. This is a great chance to gain experience in coaching and teaching. Debating Debating will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in 1.31 rather than after school. Come along to learn how to argue in a more creative and constructive way in a fun environment. There will be opportunities to learn and develop your debating skills with a possibility of entering exciting competitions involving other Scottish schools at a later date. So what are you waiting for? Everyone is welcome (especially the new S1s). Bring your lunch. M Roskilly The Spark A reminder that meetings for The Spark run every Tuesday after school and every Thursday lunchtime in 1.26 - you only need to attend one meeting a week. We are still accepting new members so please come along if you are interested. Italian Club Italian club will run every Wednesday lunchtime in 1.26. If you want to learn the basics to help you on holiday or are just interested in the language and the culture, please come along. This club is open to all pupils and staff with an interest in Italy and Italian.   Shinty Club Shinty Club takes place on Monday after school.  Meet outside PE base.  All years welcome and all equipment is provided. Club FilmG (s1-s6) Club FilmG is a club for fluent Gaelic speakers in s1-s6 with an interest in the media who would like to take part in this year’s FilmG short film competition. As well as an opportunity to create your own film the club will give you the chance to work with professionals from the television industry and learn about filming and editing. We will meet after school on Wednesdays in room 2.24. LOCKERS Locker forms are available from welfare, reception and school website. Return applications to welfare office.
