Choir Rehearsals - S1 Choir rehearsals continue on Tuesday lunchtimes, in room 2.01 (Mr Dearsley’s room). There are no auditions, everyone is welcome. The choir will be performing in the Christmas concert at the Usher Hall with P7 choirs from the primary schools

Gaelic Learners Club
The Gaelic learners club is open to all pupils s1 – s3 whatever their knowledge of Gaelic, so whether you want to build on the language you learned in primary or would like to learn more about one of Scotland’s native languages then come along and join the class which runs every Monday lunch time in room 2.24.

S2

Geography Field Trip - S3 are invited to join the geography department on their field trip to the sunny and dramatic French Alps next May. The cost is £520 and it runs from the 6th to the 12th. Although priority will be given to geography students we will consider students from other classes who wish to join their friends or see more of the world. If you do not have an information letter see geography teachers or Mrs Sinclair, the classroom assistant for one.

Senior Drama Production – Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward

Come along to the annual Senior Drama Production and see our talented pupils perform the comic play Blithe Spirit.

Date: Friday 4th December

Matinee Performance - 2:00pm

Ticket Price: £6 Adult, £4 Student/Child

Tickets are on sale from the cast and crew at both Lauderdale & Darroch campuses.

Tickets will also be on sale at the door on a first-come-first-served basis.



THE JGHS SCHOOL SHOP - will be open from Wednesday 2 December in the Cyber Cafe on the ground floor.  The shop will be open every break selling loom bands, pencils, rubbers, pens, sharpeners and Santa hats.

ST. ANDREWS’ DAY CELEBRATION – FRIDAY 4TH DECEMBER (S1 to S3)
S1 to S3 pupils are encouraged to wear tartan on this day (hairband, socks, anything!) as they will all be participating in a giant Strip the Willow outside the Malala building by year group.
Classes will be asked to meet outside reception as follows (a tannoy announcement will also be made):

9.30                        S1
9.55                        S2 (go to p.2 class first to register)
10.20                     S3

During interval, there will be a bake-sale, face-painting and other activities available. All proceeds from these activities will go towards helping Syrian Refugees.


PUPIL VOICE MEETINGS - ALL YEAR GROUPS
Pupil voice will meet on Thursday 3rd December as follows:

Junior Pupil Voice (S1 to S3)                       Period 1 in B1
Senior Pupil voice (S4 to S6)                       Meeting Room at Darroch

The next scheduled meeting on 17th December has been cancelled due to the Christmas Concert rehearsals.
Next meeting will take place in January- more details will follow.

Context sentence: The dictionaries were all higgledy-piggledy after 3M2 had used them to find the word of the week.


JGHS CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT THE USHER HALL  
Thursday 17th December 2015  7.00pm
Tickets are now on sale priced from £6 - £10 available directly from the Usher Hall box office and website.
Please come along and support all JGHS pupils who will be performing in this and enjoy the concert - it's a festive treat one week before Christmas!

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CHRISTMAS APPEAL IN AID OF CHILDREN 1ST
Please bring in a gift for a child that may get very little this Christmas. 
The appeal will run for the month of November
You do not need to spend large amounts of money. 
A stocking filler or small gift would be very welcome. 
Suggestions include sweeties, chocolates, pens, pencils, notepads, books, hats, gloves, selection box etc.  Gifts should be new and brought in unwrapped. 
Bring your gift to your registration class.  Alternatively gifts can also be handed in to Mrs Fallon in the SFL department or to guidance staff in PSE lessons.
Children 1st is a Scottish children’s charity.  They support children for a range of reasons including survivors of abuse, neglect and other traumatic events in childhood.

Volleyball Club - Volleyball club takes place on Tuesdays after school, at Meadowbank. The PE bus will leave at 4pm from Lauderdale street and returns to the school at 6pm. Anyone interested or who would like more information please see Miss Mackinnon in PE. The club is available to all pupils in S1-S6
Netball Club
Netball club takes place on Thursdays after school, at Meadowbank. The PE bus will leave at 4pm from Lauderdale street and returns to the school at 6pm. Anyone interested or who would like more information please see Miss Mackinnon in PE. The club is available to all pupils in S1-S6

Art project – ‘Lifecycle of Stuff’
The Art Dept. need your empty juice cans and plastic bottles for a recycling Art Project called the ‘Lifecycle of Stuff’. Please help by putting your empty juice cans or plastic bottles into the white labelled bins in the Forum. Thank you.

Athletics Club
Athletics club starts on Monday after school, at Meadowbank. The bus will leave at 4pm from Lauderdale street and returns at 6pm. Anyone interested or who would like more information please see Dr Oudney (Science).
S5-6 only-
If any S5 or S6 would be interested in helping with athletics club on a Monday night, please speak to Dr Oudney in Science. This is a great chance to gain experience in coaching and teaching.

Debating
Debating will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in 1.31 rather than after school. Come along to learn how to argue in a more creative and constructive way in a fun environment. There will be opportunities to learn and develop your debating skills with a possibility of entering exciting competitions involving other Scottish schools at a later date. So what are you waiting for?
Everyone is welcome (especially the new S1s).

The Spark
A reminder that meetings for The Spark run every Tuesday after school and every Thursday lunchtime in 1.26 - you only need to attend one meeting a week. We are still accepting new members so please come along if you are interested.

Italian Club
Italian club will run every Wednesday lunchtime in 1.26. If you want to learn the basics to help you on holiday or are just interested in the language and the culture, please come along. This club is open to all pupils and staff with an interest in Italy and Italian.  

Shinty Club
Shinty Club takes place on Monday after school.  Meet outside PE base.  All years welcome and all equipment is provided.

Club FilmG (s1-s6)
Club FilmG is a club for fluent Gaelic speakers in s1-s6 with an interest in the media who would like to take part in this year’s FilmG short film competition. As well as an opportunity to create your own film the club will give you the chance to work with professionals from the television industry and learn about filming and editing. We will meet after school on Wednesdays in room 2.24.
