Debating club notice: all year groups
Debating continues to take place in room 1.31 every Thursday lunchtime. All pupils are very welcome and bring your lunch.
No matter how experienced you are in public speaking and debating: it is a great way to develop critical thinking skills and your ability to construct an argument.

Event invitation: Thursday 17th November (6:45 p.m-9:00p.m.)
James Gillespie’s High School will be hosting one of the first rounds of the Donald Dewar Memorial Debate organised by the Law Society of Scotland. We have entered two teams and will be competing against Leith Academy.
James Gillespie’s has been selected to speak for the Proposition and the Motion is:
                                                  This House would ban referendums.
The debate will take place on Thursday 17th November between 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. in the library. All pupils, parents and carers are most welcome to come along and support our teams, and the more friendly faces there are in the audience the better.
Mr Roskilly

CHRISTMAS APPEAL IN AID OF CHILDREN 1st

This year we are collecting chocolate selection boxes for children who may get very little this Christmas. Any donated selection boxes will be passed to Children 1st and distributed to children across Edinburgh. Our target is 200 selection boxes!

The appeal will run until the start of December.

Please hand a selection box to Mrs Fallon in SFL, School Office or your key adult.

Children 1st is a Scottish children’s charity. They support children for a range of reasons including abuse, neglect and other traumatic events in childhood.

Mrs Fallon (SFL teacher)
