SKI EXCURSION 2029
JGHS is proud to offer a ski excursion to pupils currently in years S1-S3, and the opportunity to learn or develop their ability to ski by going aboard.  The resort for 2020 will be ‘Sestriere’ in Italy to provide a varied experience to those who have been on a previous ski excursion.

Parents have been emailed the note of interest letter that explains the full excursion package. A paper copy can also be collected from the Design, Engineering and Technology staff base or speak to Mr Digance in the same department.  It is important to judge the interest very early for the tour operator; therefore, the closing date is 12.00 on Friday 1 March 2019.

NEW 1st Minister’s Reading Challenge
It’s back! And it’s our first one for 2019.February’s challenge started on Friday … At any point during the month – including the February break - we are inviting pupils to email the school office with a photo of themselves reading at a famous landmark! If you’re going away pack your book and take a great pic.
Include a bit of detail as to what you are reading and where you are and send it to admin@jamesgillespies.edin.sch.uk
The photos will go on display in the library and there will be certificates and prizes at the end of the month.   Speak to Ms Brown in the library or Mrs Fairhurst in 1.25 for more details.
You will also find 1st Minister’s Reading Challenge bookshelf recommendation cards in the library to slot into any really good reads you come across this year.

CROSS COUNTRY RACE
Any pupils interested in running for James Gillespie's High School in the Hopetoun House Estate cross country running race please see Mr. Sievwright in the PE department. Deadline for entries is Thursday 7 February.
