The Spark - School Magazine

Seniors, if you are interested in being involved with the school magazine this year, or if you just want to know a bit more about it, please come to one of the following meetings:

S4-S6: Tuesday the 19th of August, after school in 1.8 (Darroch) or Thursday the 21st of August at lunchtime in 1.8 (Darroch).  If you cannot attend either of these meetings but would like to be involved, please drop in to see Ms Kirkwood in room 1.8 and let her know.

We are looking for anyone interested in writing opinion articles, current affairs, sports reports, reviews, photographers, artists and editors.

For registration

All pupils who receive instrumental lessons at Primary or Secondary School should come to the music department in Bruntsfield House to see their instrumental teachers and check their lesson time on the appropriate timetable.  Lessons are beginning this week!

Please note the Music Staff Base is now located on the third floor in B17.

Thank-you.

The Dloko High School Choir

The Dloko Choir are singing at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival.  The Choir are hoping to do a collaborative item at the end of the 60 minute show for the finale with singers from JGHS.

We will be performing 1 song.  The current plan is to learn Nkosi Sikelel' and join with our friends from Dloko.

The concerts are on Tuesday 12th/Wednesday 13th/Thursday 14th August with the dress rehearsal on Monday 11th August.

The Chamber Choir would like to invite any pupil past or present to join them for this event with the Dloko Choir.

The publicity blurb says that the choir’s performance will ‘move you to tears of sadness and joy.’ This statement is absolutely true and those staff and pupils who have been involved in the South Africa project can testify to this statement.

It has been discussed that JGHS staff and pupils can get tickets at the concession rate.  The money raised from ticket sales will fund local community projects tackling poverty through the Jabulani Charity.
