S2 and S3 pupils going on the ski excursion 2016.

Some pupil ‘European Health Insurance Card’ or ‘EHIC’ information is still outstanding.  If you have recently received it and it has not been copied, pass it to Mr Digance ASAP.  Please also collect any travel documents if required for the October break from the Design and Technology staff base.  Any travel documents that are not collected will remain in school and held securely.

Please inform your parent/carer to check for an email send on Tuesday 6 October from JGHS and Mr Digance.  It provides a reminder of payment dates and information for after the October break.

There will be a pupil only excursion group meeting once we return after the October break.  Date and time TBC.

Thanks
Mr Digance

Word of the week from 1K1

Word: ostentatious

Definition: Characterized by pretentious or showy display; designed to impress

Context sentence: Yoda waved his new light sabre around in an ostentatious manner.

Synonyms: conspicuous, extravagant, flamboyant, jaunty, swank, pretentious

Thanks to 1K1 for the fantastic word this week. It was a difficult choice as there were many fabulous words! Use this word, and its synonyms, in your school work and everyday speech (but not in  an ostentatious manner obviously).

Debating

Debating will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in 1.31 rather than after school. Come along to learn how to argue in a more creative and constructive way in a fun environment. There will be opportunities to learn and develop your debating skills with a possibility of entering exciting competitions involving other Scottish schools at a later date. So what are you waiting for?
Everyone is welcome (especially the new S1s).
Bring your lunch.

M Roskilly
