SKI Excursion 2016
JGHS is very pleased to announce an amazing opportunity
initially for its current S1 and S2 year groups to travel abroad and learn to
Ski or Snowboard.
The initial dates have been identified as the 6th-13th
February 2016 and the excursion includes all flights and transfers, half
board accommodation, equipment hire and all instructions. The tour
operator discussions and final destination are at an early stage but we need
to know if this opportunity would be of interest to your child. Once
numbers are known, full details and payment plans will be released early
March 2015. We estimate to bring this experience around £990 (which may
be subject to minor change). To include your child’s name on the ‘notes
of interest’ mailing list, please ask your child to collect a letter from the
Mr Digance in the Design and Technology department after the February break

The National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland
The National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland continues to
work in partnership with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to give talented
young woodwind, brass and percussion musicians the opportunity to
learn from some of the country’s most gifted teachers and performers at the
Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
This week-long summer school will allow young wind
musicians aged 12–17 to work with other like-minded and talented musicians to
create a new ensemble, as well as receiving tuition from the very best wind
players in the country.
We expect this new course to attract young instrumentalists
from all over the world.

School Football
Can all players be
aware that if you are selected to play school football and you can’t make it
you must inform Mr. Carstairs or your coach at the earliest opportunity. Not
informing anyone until the day before a match is unacceptable. Cancelling
matches at the last minute will result in the team forfeiting points.

EDINBURGH’S GOT TALENT:
On Sunday 8th March 2015, Ultra Events is hosting a Music Talent
Showcase at City Nightclub in Edinburgh. The aim of the event is to
expose and source local talented musicians and give them a chance to
perform to a mass audience.
The event will be hosted by 4 judges and participants will be asked to
perform 1 track but should have 2 available should a second be
requested. The winner of the event will be given a slot to support Union
J and many other mega stars at the UK's first under 18's music festival
taking place at The Royal Highland Centre on 15th August 2015, in front
of an audience of more than 12,000 attendees.
Anyone interested in applying for this should see Miss Millar or Mrs O’Brien in the music department, or check the new school website for details.
ALL PUPILS
All pupils that have an
instrumental lesson at 8.50am MUST report to the office at the bottom of
Bruntsfield House to register they are present. Absence calls will go
home to parents if pupils do not register.
