All years	**NEW ITEM** JUNIOR CHOIR   All S1 to S3 pupils are welcome to join this choir and perform at the school’s ‘Spring Fling’ concert in March – no auditions or previous singing experience necessary. This choir rehearses every Wednesday at 1.15pm in B1 – last chance to join is this Wednesday 4th February. **NEW ITEM** Re. Instrumental Parent's Evening: 3rd and 5th February- Guitar   Mr McGeary (Guitar teacher) will not be attending the Instrumental Parent’s Evening this week.  Please inform parents.   Guitar lessons are still in operation from our supply Guitar Teacher.   Word of the Week from 4M3 Jeremiad (noun)   Definition: a prolonged lamentation or complaint; also :  a cautionary or angry harangue   Context: I am saddened to add my jeremiad to the list of protestations at your coverage.   Instrumental Parent's Evening: 3rd and 5th February: Book an appointment ASAP   To book an appointment please log onto the new school website (www.jamesgillespies.co.uk) and fill in the google spreadsheet via the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bNj_VGdGdYfTobVznEk3gabXjabfw-REFqCxDsyQhLI/edit?usp=sharing Please note that Mr Rankin (Percussion), Ms Petersen (clarsach), Mrs Collin (clarsach) and Miss Barry (vocal) are unavailable on Thursday and have made alternative arrangements to meet with parents on Tuesday 3rd February from 4.30 – 5.30pm. Meetings with instrumental staff will take place in the dining centre (at Lauderdale Street). If your parents are unable to fill in the online appointment sheet, please get in contact with the music department and we can arrange an appointment.   HPV Immunisations   Tuesday 3rd February in rooms S1 and S2 on the Lauderdale site. Any enquiries should be directed to the Welfare office.   Mrs Summers   South Africa Project:   We are still appealing for any final donations to take over to our partner schools and charities in South Africa. We are focusing on the following items, but high quality donations of other items are also welcome! Primary School Shoes (preferably black. We are trying to provide every child at Charles Memorial Primary School with a pair of shoes) Dresses (for secondary pupils) Football Shirts (For secondary pupils) Sportswear (e.g. shorts, shin pads, football boots etc) Toothbrushes and toothpaste Donations can be dropped off with Miss Grant in room G8 at Darroch, or Miss Gray in room S6 at Lauderdale. Thanks for your support!       ALL PUPILS All pupils that have an instrumental lesson at 8.50am MUST report to the office at the bottom of Bruntsfield House to register they are present.  Absence calls will go home to parents if pupils do not register.
