S1	**NEW ITEM** S1, S2 and Girls Football Training   Please note that football training on Monday 30th March is cancelled due to a senior fixture. Training will resume as normal the following week. S1, S2 & S3 Lockers   Due to the decant arrangements all Lauderdale lockers must be emptied and keys returned to the Welfare office by Wednesday 25th March Ski Excursion 2016   S1 and S2 Ski excursion 2016 information letters are now available.   I am delighted to confirm that James Gillespie’s High School is able to offer you the opportunity to learn or develop your ability of skiing at Alpe d’Huez in France.  The excursion will be open to all students currently in S1 and S2. 40 places have been provisionally reserved.  The ski excursion is only open for skiing and not snowboarding at present.   Letters have been emailed to your parent/guardian to download and return.  If you do not have the opportunity to print from home then collect a letter from Mr A. Digance within the Department of Design and Technology at your earliest opportunity

S3	JET Programme   Following the 3rd Year assembly on Friday, pupils are invited to submit ‘Notes of Interest’ for the JET programme. These must be returned to Mr Warden or any other Pupil Support Leader by Friday 20th March in order to be considered for the programme. S4	English Supported Study   English supported study will be starting again this week. As we will not be running Easter revision sessions, it is strongly recommended that you attend these sessions to help prepare for your final exam. It does not matter if you can only manage sessions run by staff who are not your English teacher – if you bring questions and materials with you, support can still be provided. Please see the English blog or posters in the English corridor for full list of dates and times.   The dates and times for this week are as follows:   Tuesday 17/3 – after school – Mrs Connell – Darroch 1.7 Wednesday 18/3 – lunch – Mr Crosbie – Darroch 1.5 Wednesday 18/3 – lunch – Mrs Wood – Darroch 1.4 Wednesday 18/3—lunch—Mr Roskilly—Lauderdale W7. Thursday 19/3 – after school – Ms Kirkwood – Darroch 1.8   The after school sessions will begin at 3.55pm to allow for pupils travelling from a different campus. Supported Study for National 5 Modern Studies Supported Study for National 5 Modern Studies will take place every Wednesday from 15:45-16:45 at Darroch in Room 1.3. All years	**NEW ITEM** Word of the Week Word: Obsequious (adjective)   Definition: Obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree.   Context: The government behaved in an overly obsequious manner towards Big Business.   Thanks to 5K3/4 for this week’s word. Use this word in the correct context over the week, in both your writing and oral work, and see if you can come up with an interesting word beginning with P for next week.   Wimbledon Meeting There will be a Wimbledon meeting on Friday 20th at break time in the Library. Please make sure you attend as very important information will be given out. Traditional Music Examination All pupils who are entering a Graded Traditional Music Examination on clarsach must bring back the fee via a cheque and the return slip to Miss Millar ASAP.   The fees are as follows:   Grade 1- £23 Grade 2- £28 Grade 3- £31 Grade 4- £34 Grade 5- £37     ALL PUPILS All pupils that have an instrumental lesson at 8.50am MUST report to the office at the bottom of Bruntsfield House to register they are present.  Absence calls will go home to parents if pupils do not register.
