S1	RUGBY   There is an Edinburgh schools rugby 7s tournament on Friday 15 May at Murrayfield. A James Gillespie’s team will be entered into this. If you would like to play see Mr. Sievwright in the PE department before Wednesday.       Lockers   S1 & S2 pupils only. Lockers are now available for hire in the new building. Forms from welfare, reception and website. Applications should be returned directly to the welfare office.

S3	Could all 3rd year tutors please remind their pupils to go directly to the forum on Tuesday morning at 8.30am to meet up with their group leader for the day. I have put lists of pupils with their group leaders in all 3rd year tutors pigeon holes.

All years	**NEW ITEM**   3K FUN RUN   This year’s 3K fun run will take place on Thursday 28th May during periods 3&4. This event is part of Health Week and pupils, staff and parents are welcome to take part. Prizes will be awarded for winning runners, best fancy dress and most money raised. As this is a charitable event, pupils taking part are encouraged to get sponsorship from friends and family that will go towards the James Gillespie’s High School Trust.   If you are interested in taking part, please collect a letter and sponsorship envelope from Mr. Carstairs in the PE department. Permission slips must be returned no later than Monday 25th May otherwise you will not be allowed to take part.   Immunisations   Mop-up session date is Tuesday 9th June     Manchester Utd vs Arsenal Football Trip Pupils going on this trip should be aware that the day has changed from Saturday 16th May to Sunday 17th May. Could you please collect a letter and new itinerary from Mr. Carstairs in the PE Department ASAP.   If you could leave this in for the next couple of weeks it would be much appreciated!         Wimbledon Trip   A couple of spaces have now become available for the Wimbledon trip. If anyone is interested please see Miss Crosbie ASAP.   Word of the Week     Thanks to 1K1 for a great word this week. Words beginning with U for next week.     Word: Tawdry (adjective) Definition: showy, cheap and flashy Context: The stylist thought her models clothes were exuberant; the reviewers dismissed them as tawdry.   MUSIC NEWS   All violin and viola pupils:   Check your lesson times for your instrumental lessons.   All pupils who were previously on Tuesdays will now have lessons on Wednesdays.   Please check with the music department if you aren’t sure when your lesson is scheduled.   Miss Millar There have been changes made to the groups for Guitar lessons. Please ensure you look at the timetable and groupings outside the music staff base in Bruntsfield House and guitar room B13.     Could all pupils receiving instrumental lessons ensure they check the relevant timetables to ensure they attend their lessons. Lessons have started this week. Please make sure you ask your class teachers for permission to attend lessons three days before your scheduled time.   All pupils who did an ABRSM examination should see their instrumental teacher to receive the results.
