There is an Edinburgh schools rugby 7s tournament on Friday 15 May at Murrayfield. A James Gillespie’s team will be entered into this. If you would like to play see Mr. Sievwright in the PE department before Wednesday.

“Careers Drop-in sessions will be held in the Library at Lauderdale on the second Thursday of every month at lunchtime.  No appointment necessary; open to all year groups; just come along and discuss careers, higher education, apprenticeships and more with the Careers Advisor.  First session will be on Thursday 14th May from 1.05pm.  Any questions, please see Miss Wilson in the Library!”

Manchester Utd vs Arsenal Football Trip
Pupils going on this trip should be aware that the day has changed from Saturday 16th May to Sunday 17th May. Could you please collect a letter and new itinerary from Mr. Carstairs in the PE Department ASAP.
 
If you could leave this in for the next couple of weeks it would be much appreciated!

Word: scintillating (adjective)
 
Definition: sparkling or shining brightly
 
Context: The scintillating sun streamed through the window.
 
Words beginning with T for next week. Please discuss the words in registration groups and come up with interesting context sentences as well as definitions and word class.
 
 
Word: Recidivist (noun)
 
Definition: a convicted criminal who reoffends, especially repeatedly.
 
Context: There was still hope for the recidivist although his past record did not suggest it.
 
Discuss this week’s word and see if you can come up an interesting word beginning with S for next week.
 
MUSIC NEWS
 
All violin and viola pupils:
 
Check your lesson times for your instrumental lessons.
 
All pupils who were previously on Tuesdays will now have lessons on Wednesdays.
 
Please check with the music department if you aren’t sure when your lesson is scheduled.
 
Miss Millar
  • There have been changes made to the groups for Guitar lessons.
Please ensure you look at the timetable and groupings outside the music staff base in Bruntsfield House and guitar room B13.
 
 
  • Could all pupils receiving instrumental lessons ensure they check the relevant timetables to ensure they attend their lessons.
Lessons have started this week.
Please make sure you ask your class teachers for permission to attend lessons three days before your scheduled time.
 
  • All pupils who did an ABRSM examination should see their instrumental teacher to receive the results.
