If you would like to take part in a girl’s 7-a-side
football festival on Friday 29th May at Leith Academy, please see
Mr. Carstairs for a letter. You don’t have to be an experienced footballer as
the competition is just a bit of fun.

Lockers are now available for hire in the new building. Forms from welfare,
reception and website. Applications should be returned directly to the
welfare office.

Word of the
week
Word: unambiguous (adjective)
Definition: not open to more than one interpretation
Context:
Notice to all registration teachers
Please encourage your classes to discuss the word of the
week and come up with their own contenders. Language acquisition and
development is a key role of literacy across the curriculum, and anyway the
pupils enjoy the competition. There will be a prizes for the top three words
once we get to the end of the alphabet!
Words beginning with V by the end of the week.
3K FUN RUN
This year’s 3K fun run will take place on Thursday 28th
May during periods 3&4. This event is part of Health Week and pupils,
staff and parents are welcome to take part. Prizes will be awarded for
winning runners, best fancy dress and most money raised. As this is a
charitable event, pupils taking part are encouraged to get sponsorship from
friends and family that will go towards the James Gillespie’s High School
Trust.
If you are interested in taking part, please collect a
letter and sponsorship envelope from Mr. Carstairs in the PE department.
Permission slips must be returned no later than Monday 25th May
otherwise you will not be allowed to take part.
Immunisations
Mop-up session date is Tuesday 9th June
Wimbledon Trip
A couple of spaces have now become available for the
Wimbledon trip. If anyone is interested please see Miss Crosbie ASAP.
MUSIC NEWS
All violin and viola pupils:
Check your lesson times for your instrumental lessons.
All pupils who were previously on Tuesdays will now have
lessons on Wednesdays.
Please check with the music department if you aren’t sure
when your lesson is scheduled.
Miss Millar
Please ensure you look at the timetable and groupings
outside the music staff base in Bruntsfield House and guitar room B13.
Lessons have started this week.
Please make sure you ask your
class teachers for permission to attend lessons three days before your
scheduled time.
