S3 Football Training will now take place on Tuesdays at Tynecastle High School on their 2G Astroturf. A bus will take players there at 16:00 and bring them back to school for 18:00. This will commence on the 13th January. Please ensure you have appropriate footwear. If you have any questions, please speak to Mr Carstairs in the PE Department.

All years	**NEW ITEM** Pupil Council meeting Period 2 Thursday January 15th.   Can all class reps for the Junior school report to The library period 2 Can all class reps for the senior school attend the Meeting room at Darroch, period 2   (Any rep unable to attend please let one of the S6 leaders know ) Can class teachers please release pupils early from period 1 to attend.   Thank you S6 Leaders **NEW ITEM** Food Bank Erin Waddle in S3 would like to organise a collection to donate to a local food bank.  If any student or member of staff would like to donate food, toiletries or other basics Miss Inglis will be storing items in W25 to donate to the food bank at the end of this month (donations by Jan 30th please). People are referred to food banks as a short term, emergency measure to ensure such people have enough to meet their basic needs. Food banks welcome: ·         Tinned foods (not baked beans or tinned tomatoes – these tend to be over supplied) e.g. pasta, fish, meat, fruit, vegetables and puddings. ·         Dried packet food that could be a complete meal made with boiling water ·         Coffee/ Tea/ UHT Milk ·         Snacks ·         Toilet roll ·         Toothpaste and tooth brushes ·         Nappies ·         Deodorant/ soap. Composition competition from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and National Trust for Scotland   We’re inviting young composers, aged 12-18, to write a two-minute piece of music for an instrumental trio, quartet or quintet of their choice inspired by one of five National Trust venues: Pollok House, Glasgow; Threave Estate, Dumfries and Galloway; Culloden Battlefield, Inverness; J M Barrie’s Birthplace, Kirriemuir and Georgian House, Edinburgh. The overall winner will be announced on Wednesday 17 June 2015 at Perth Concert Hall during a concert performance, where all five semi-finalists will have their pieces performed and recorded. Closing date for entries is 31 May 2015.   Composing workshop   For 12-18 year olds with Matilda Brown - Georgian House, National Trust for Scotland, Saturday 7 March 2015: 2pm-4pm Spend time taking inspiration from Georgian House with an NTS guide before joining composer Matilda Brown for an introductory look at writing music on a theme. Spaces on the workshop are free, but must be reserved in advance. If so, please bring them in!  Donations can be left at W22 in Warrender, or 2.5 in Darroch, or with any of the staff involved in the trip.  Thank you.
