Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin band recruitment
The Big Band aims to bring 20 high-school aged musicians together approximately once a month during term time to learn new music, make group arrangements, and perform gigs. It's an informal tutored session, led by the fantastic musician and composer Mike Vass (www.mikevas.com).

With the Big Band we aim to take part in artistically exciting projects and have so far collaborated with the Tinderbox Orchestra, the EYG Archive Project and have supported the Remembered/Imagined project (from Mr McFall's Chamber), performing a BBC Performing Arts Fellowship Commission by Ailie Robertson. This year Mike Vass was commissioned to write a suite of new music especially for the band as part of a larger cross-arts project.

We feel it's important for EYG to exist as a community outside of our main events, giving our older participants opportunities for advanced learning, socialising, performing and volunteering. We encourage band members to take the lead themselves - putting forward ideas for arrangements, gigs, and new projects.

You can find out more information and term dates here: http://www.eyg.org.uk/index.php?lang=eng&location=big_band
And watch videos of the band performing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGDQjzs6Glo
