PE Buses
Just a reminder
that if you have missed the PE bus you MUST sign in at Reception at the
Lauderdale campus. Failure to do so may result in you being referred to
Support for Pupils for truanting. Once you have signed in you will be
allocated a classroom to work in for the remainder of your PE lesson. It is
important to note that you are not allowed to leave this classroom until you
have spoken to your PE teacher about why you have missed the bus.

**NEW ITEM**
Word of the Week.
Scots is such a rich language that not only do we have two
words beginning with I this week, but also some classic Burns for you to
enjoy.
Word: intimmers
(noun): internal organs; stomach and bowels; internal workings; mechanism
Context: In S4
biology, you will study the intimmers of the body.
Thanks to 4M3 for this
gory example.
Word: Ilka (determiner) : every
Context: Aft hae I rov'd by
bonie Doon,
To
see the rose and woodbine twine:
And
ilka bird sang o' its Luve ,
And
fondly sae did I o' mine;
Robert
Burns from The Banks of Bonnie Doon
Thanks to 1K2 (and Mr Shankland)
for finding this fine poetry.
We’ll revert to Standard English
for next week, the letter J, but will also consider examples of Scots words
in the future.

South Africa
Project:
We are still appealing for any final donations to take over to
our partner schools and charities in South Africa. We are focusing on the
following items, but high quality donations of other items are also welcome!
Donations can be dropped off with Miss Grant in room 1.8 at
Darroch, or Miss Gray in room S6 at Lauderdale.
Thanks for your support!
Food Bank
Erin Waddle in S3 would like to organise a collection to
donate to a local food bank. If any student or member of staff would
like to donate food, toiletries or other basics Miss Inglis will be storing
items in W25 to donate to the food bank at the end of this month (donations
by Jan 30th please).
People are referred to food banks as a short term, emergency
measure to ensure such people have enough to meet their basic needs.
Food banks welcome:
·
Tinned foods (not baked beans or tinned
tomatoes – these tend to be over supplied) e.g. pasta, fish, meat, fruit,
vegetables and puddings.
·
Dried packet food that could be a complete
meal made with boiling water
·
Coffee/ Tea/ UHT Milk
·
Snacks
·
Toilet roll
·
Toothpaste and tooth brushes
·
Nappies
·
Deodorant/ soap.
ALL PUPILS
All pupils that have an
instrumental lesson at 8.50am MUST report to the office at the bottom of
Bruntsfield House to register they are present. Absence calls will go
home to parents if pupils do not register.
