French Alps
Trip
The Geography department are offering all students in S3
the opportunity to visit the sunny French Alps next May.
Provisional dates are from 7th to the 13th
and the cost should be £525.
If you are interested please ask any of the geography
teachers (Mr Stewart, Mrs Harvey-Jamieson & Mr O’Dea) for a letter with
further details.

London Dance Trip
2015
If you have paid a deposit to the London Dance Trip there
will be a meeting in the library on Friday 10th October at break
time. Attendance is essential.
Scottish
Secondary Schools Road Race Championships 2014
The SSAA Secondary Road Race Championships are being held
on Saturday 8th November at Helix Park in Falkirk. This is a
short distance road race for individuals with a team element. Anyone
from S1-S6 can compete and races range from 1 mile to 2 miles. If you
are interested in taking part in this Championship please see Miss Falconer
in PE by Friday 10th October. Entries after this date will
not be put forward for the competition.
Rotary International Young Musician of
the year Competition 2014/2015
Entrants may compete in one instrument/voice only and should perform a
piece of their own choice lasting no more than five minutes either vocally or
on the instrument of their choice. A piano will be available in the venue but
entrants must provide their own accompanist. Amplification is not allowed. A
copy of all music scores will be required for the Judging Panel.
The winners will receive a Winners Certificate and a cash
prize. Every competitor is given feedback from the Judging Panel and a
Certificate of Participation which can be included in development profiles or
records of achievement.

HERIOT–WATT UNIVERSITY
COMPOSER COMPETITION
Are you an aspiring composer? Heriot-Watt
are offering
a prize of £400 to the best composition entered in their
competition. There is no age limit.
The piece is to be written
for the group, ‘Inchcolm New Music Ensemble’, based at Heriot-Watt
University, Edinburgh.
Deadline for
submissions: 1st February 2015.

Hockey Club
Hockey is on Monday after school at Tynecastle High
School, bus leaves Lauderdale Street at 16:00 and returns at 17:45
approx. Come along even if you’ve
never played before! Equipment is provided. Any questions, see Miss Sinclair
in Modern Languages.
Reminder to return EE2 forms
Reminder to return your EE2 forms ASAP – deadline was 20th
August!!!!
You will not be allowed to go on any school
trip unless we have your forms back! Any problems see your Guidance teacher.

Shinty Club
Shinty is on Monday, after school at Thirlestane until 5pm.
Everyone welcome regardless of experience. Helmets, sticks and shinguards are
provided.
Bands and Orchestras
Bands and Orchestras have commenced rehearsals for the
Christmas Concert.
All pupils receiving instrumental lessons are required to
participate in one or more of the school ensembles. Pupils who learn an
instrument outside school are very welcome to join one or more of the
ensembles available.

ALL PUPILS
All pupils that have an
instrumental lesson at 8.50am MUST report to the office at the bottom of
Bruntsfield House to register they are present. Absence calls will go
home to parents if pupils do not register.
