S2	ATHLETE SUPPORT PROGRAMME   The PE department within James Gillespie’s High School are currently looking to select pupils for our ‘Athlete Support Programme’, which is for pupils who show high ability in sport.  This programme will provide support and assistance to those of you who are participating at a high level within a particular sport and help you to reach your sporting potential. Provisional dates are from 7th to the 13th and the cost should be £525. If you are interested please ask any of the geography teachers (Mr Stewart, Mrs Harvey-Jamieson) for a letter with further details.
S4	S4 / S5 - Trip to New York & Washington (Modern Studies)   The trip has now been opened up to non-Modern Studies students or those who wish to study Modern Studies next year! We have 5 places available! If you are interested please see the Modern Studies Dept. or Mrs Sinclair, Classroom Assistant ASAP. Closing date – this Friday 31st October   S4 Assembly Notice   Tuesday 4th November (This week only ) 4 Kyi 1,2,3,4 4 M3   Thursday 5th November ( As normal) 4 R 1,2,3 4M1, 2   The assembly will focus on many wonderful opportunities for all beyond school (16 plus agenda). There will be outside speakers and it’s essential every one attends and is on time. All years	Lost property reclaim Friday 31st October – break time in the foyer     Royal Conservatoire of Scotland BIG GUITAR WEEKEND - 30th Oct - 2nd Nov 2014   Big Guitar Weekend is back, with a celebration of the remarkable talent to be found around the United Kingdom. Featuring superstars Craig Ogden, Gary Ryan, Xuefei Yang and our own Professor Allan Neave, plus a showcase of the next generation of talented Conservatoire students, this year’s edition also includes the Thomas Wilson Competition, in a search for exciting new repertoire for the guitar. If you would like information about participating on the BGW course, please contact the RCS Box Office for details -   http://boxoffice.rcs.ac.uk   EDINBURGH YOUTH ORCHESTRA  SPRING COURSE  3rd-10th April 2015 If you would like to be part of this wonderful initiative please contact the music department for an application form.
