French Alps Trip

The Geography department are offering all students in S3 the opportunity to visit the sunny French Alps next May.
Provisional dates are from 7th to the 13th and the cost should be £525.
If you are interested please ask any of the geography teachers (Mr Stewart, Mrs Harvey-Jamieson) for a letter with further details.

Sexual Health Seminar
Groups for the Sexual Health seminars being held on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th have been posted on the noticeboard outside the Resource Centre in Darroch. Please notify Mr Warden by the end of the day Monday if there have been any swaps/changes. There can only be a maximum of ten people in a group.
 
New York & Washington trip has now been opened up to all S4 / S5 students. Please see Modern Studies Dept. at Darroch or Mrs Sinclair at Lauderdale St. for more information.
If you would like to go on the Modern Studies Trip to New York & Washington please hand in £200 deposit ASAP to either the Modern Studies teachers or Mrs Sinclair, Classroom Assistant, Warrender.

Debating and public speaking group

Debating will take place today, Monday 27th October, after school in W7. Everyone welcome.
We have entered a team for the Law Society Debating competition, first round to take place early December, and we will be discussing the motion that they have selected: This House believes the UK should leave the EU.
JGHS will be arguing for the Proposition.  Come along!
 

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
BIG GUITAR WEEKEND - 30th Oct - 2nd Nov 2014
 
Big Guitar Weekend is back, with a celebration of the remarkable talent to be found around the United Kingdom.
Featuring superstars Craig Ogden, Gary Ryan, Xuefei Yang and our own Professor Allan Neave, plus a showcase of the next generation of talented Conservatoire students, this year’s edition also includes the Thomas Wilson Competition, in a search for exciting new repertoire for the guitar.

Bands and Orchestras have commenced rehearsals for the Christmas Concert.
 
All pupils receiving instrumental lessons are required to participate in one or more of the school ensembles. Pupils who learn an instrument outside school are very welcome to join one or more of the ensembles available.
 
Monday: SENIOR WIND BAND in B3 AFTER SCHOOL
Tuesday: SENIOR ORCHESTRA IN B1 AFTER SCHOOL
Wednesday: SENIOR CHOIR IN B1 AFTER SCHOOL
Thursday: PIPE BAND IN B1 AFTER SCHOOL -check notices around school for specifics
 
Junior Ensembles
 
All pupils receiving instrumental lessons are required to participate in one or more of the school ensembles. Pupils who learn an instrument outside school are very welcome to join one or more of the ensembles available.

ALL PUPILS
All pupils that have an instrumental lesson at 8.50am MUST report to the office at the bottom of Bruntsfield House to register they are present.  Absence calls will go home to parents if pupils do not register.
